Oro House developed The Compassionate Care Model® of dual diagnosis treatment for addiction and mental health because we feel it is essential for healing and recovery.
Through research and our own experience, we have seen how connection is the single most important factor for motivating people to participate in their recovery and change their life for the better.
We take pride in creating and maintaining an inspirational environment that is not only effective, but supportive, loving, and healing. We believe the Oro House treatment philosophy provides our clients with the greatest chance for a new life of recovery.
Compassionate Care Model® Core Fundamentals
Our Compassionate Care Model® is a successful approach for addiction and mental health treatment. Our experienced therapists and staff are committed to interacting with our clients through respect and authenticity, while always ensuring to protect the dignity of everyone we encounter.
Rather than telling each client the solution to their current struggles, Oro House staff members provide them with the tools and insight needed to discover what works best for them.
This is an empowering approach that is always carried out with genuine care and concern for our clients, as we believe shame and judgment are counterproductive to growth and healing, and the research has proven this to be true.
Connection Not Control®
Our motto is “Connection, Not Control.” Instead of using rules to hold our clients, we engage with them directly on a personal level, and hold them through genuine care and concern.
This is the spirit that guides everything we do during recovery. Connection Not Control® is the central tenet of The Compassionate Care Model.
We believe that addiction can be attributed to a fundamental sense of disconnection that many of us experience in the world today. We adhere to the core belief that engaging with others in a loving community is essential for all people, especially those seeking help for recovery.
Everyone at Oro House practices non-judgmental and shame-free communication, without arguing or using confrontation as a tool.
Above all, our mission is to treat our clients with kindness and dignity, while showing them the support, connection, and love required for feeling free and thriving in the world.
Our clients are taught healthy ways to embrace their lives and feel fulfilled instead of using addiction as a strategy to change where they are in life at the present moment.

what it looks like
Oro House Recovery Centers uses a wide range of successful addiction treatment modalities when working with our clients.
Evidence-based therapies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy are proven to be effective at providing our clients with the insight to understand the correlation between what they are experiencing inside and how it translates externally.
Through a technique called Motivational Interviewing, we work with our clients to explore and resolve their ambivalence to change.
This process focuses on each client’s goals and offers them the opportunity to recognize the discrepancy between their current behavior and their true aspirations. This results in their ability to discover positive changes on their own terms.
In doing this, our clients often rediscover passions that once brought them joy, and many of them will identify completely new passions to explore and nurture.
But more than any one specific therapeutic modality, it is the healing bond that contributes to positive and lasting change. Research has proven this to be true, and it is the premise upon which our program was developed.
It is our sincere desire to provide a healthy environment that promotes a lasting change for all of our clients. We believe the road to recovery is profound and transformative.
Each step toward healing leads to a positive sense of self, and a life in which self-improvement occurs each and every day.
